The West End is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Boston, and was largely developed by architect Charles Bullfinch who built many of the beautiful mansions that still exist in the area. Today, the area is an up and coming, thriving neighborhood comprising mixed-use commercial and residential areas. Landmarks in the area include the TD Banknorth Garden, North Station, Massachusetts General Hospital, Charles Street Jail, Bullfinch Triangle, and Government Center. The West End Museum highlights much of the area’s rich history and the Community Center helps build a sense of community within the neighborhood.
